Bob Anderson receives the Business of the Year Award

Nominated by long-time community activist Marlyn Trevino, Bob Anderson and his wife Sandy of Anderson Shoes were awarded the 2012 Business of the Year Award. Award was presented by PABA President Amoun Sayaovong and Marlyn Trevino.

Harvest Festival Pedestrian Parade - September 2014

The 2014 Payne Arcade Harvest Festival Pedestrian Parade. The Payne Arcade Business Association (PABA) is organizing the Harvest Festival Parade “Stride for Pride on the East Side” for Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. It will be a festive intercultural display of community - celebrating neighborhood pride. The will pedestrian parade be a revival of the nostalgic harvest celebration for East Side residents and business people. The parade is intended to celebrate on the positive things, great people and intercultural relationships that define this community.

Rock the Island - PABA Pig Roast Planned for August 21, 2014

Once again we bring you the Rock the Island at Minnesota Music Cafe on Railroad Island. Tickets are $15.00 at the door but if you purchase your ticket early you pay only $12.00. The pulled pork dinner includes a giant BBQ pork sandwich, potato salad, coleslaw, pickles and baked beans.

PABA will hold its Annual Meeting and Dinner on January 21st at the Payne Phalen American Legion Hall on Arcade Street - 5:00 Social Hour & 6:00 Dinner
The current Board of Directors include: , Jerry Moynagh President, Al Oertwig, Vice President, Anne DeJoy, Treasurer, Deb Howard Secretary, Lonny Piche, Rolando Aguilar, Bob Anderson, Kendall Crosby, Ken Erickson, Mike Hafner, Mark Hansen, Ted Hecht, Janet Kane, Heron Lopez, Jonothon Lopez and Marlyn Trevino.

Mardi Gras Gala - Comming Back by Popular Demand in 2014

Mardi Gras Gala will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the American Legion on Arcade Street. This event is part of our fund raising efforts for the Payne Arcade Harvest Festival in the fall. Mardi Gras festivities include an indoor parade, Cajun and Zydeco music, dancing, tarot card readings, a hilarious Cajun Wedding, silent auction and exotic surprises. Hearty dinner includes sausage and chicken Jambalaya, Captain Ken's Applebeans with Pecans, Shrimp Creole, salad & French Bread. And of course the celebrated Hurricane Rum Punch made famous in New Orleans.

Annual Meeting - Tuesday, January 21, 2014 - American Legion Hall on Arcade Street starting at 5:30. Monthly Board Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm at Governor's Fine Foods - Arcade Street. For the remainder of 2014 those date are: February 18th, March 18th, April 15th, May 20th, June 17th, July 15th, September 16th, October 21st, November 18th & December 16th.

What is PABA?

PABA is the acronym for the Payne Arcade Business Association, which was formed to promote the businesses in and around District Five on Saint Paul’s East Side. Similar to other business associations PABA is committed to the vitality and strength of our respective business district.
